The rapid increase in Aging Population globally, Signals a need for Awareness.
The elderly poverty rate is the highest among OECD countries, and the pension replacement rate for retirement income is less than half (Korean Elderly, the Poorest Among OECD Nations: "Allowance Pension" Solution?). In particular, the rise in single-person elder households and the risks of social isolation and lonely deaths have become worse. The percentage of elderly Koreans who responded that they can not find support in struggles were 39 % which is 4 times higher than OECD average. Adding to the problem is the ‘application-based’ system, which means that many elderly people are unaware of available welfare benefits and are not able to receive help without proactive application.
